National Conference Call – 1/04/18

Graphic for Weekly Conference Call recap

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the holiday season and are now ready to forge ahead with building a people’s party.

On our first national conference call of 2018, we focused on the importance of planning MPP chapter meetings, including campus chapters, and continuing to attend progressive groups meetings in order to build up our coalition members. In addition, supporters are encouraged to hold informational meetings as a means of spreading the word about our movement. Watch for our MPP Chapter Building Guide and informational flyers to be posted on our website soon. Our Events Map where you’ll be able to post events and search for events will be added to the website as well.

We continue to ask everyone to please help with the Ranked Choice Voting effort in Maine. RCV is a method of allowing voters to rank multiple candidates in order of preference. It is more representative of voters as it makes it easier for progressive candidates to get elected who aren’t part of the duopoly. Last year voters in Maine bypassed the legislature and passed it by a statewide initiative. However, very soon afterwards the Democrats and Republicans banded together to sabotage it. Fortunately, voters in Maine have the final say in a process called the ‘People’s Veto’ where they need a certain number of petition signatures to retain RCV.

MPP is helping the ‘People’s Veto’ effort by calling people in Maine and mobilizing them to collect petition signatures. You will be using the HubDialer, an automatic phone bank system where you don’t have to enter any phone numbers.

Here’s what to do:

  • Go to
  • Enter your email
  • Enter the Campaign ID 11290
  • Enter the Passcode 123456
  • Follow the simple instructions to talk to Maine volunteers

A script will pop up so you can read it over before talking to anyone. Thank you for helping with this important effort!
